The holiday season is different for each one of us. We come from different faith communities, have grown up with unique family traditions, and each family has its own special holiday foods. One thing we all have in common is a focus on love and giving. Don’t get bogged down with the details of shopping and decorating, and miss out on the love, the giving, and the joy that results from giving.
“One of the greatest feelings in the world is knowing that we as individuals can make a difference. Ending hunger in America is a goal that is literally within our grasp.” (Jeff Bridge)
Let’s start local, by deciding that it is possible to work together to end hunger in the town of Essex. There are so many ways to get involved! The simplest way, for busy time-strapped folks, is to simply press the donate button on the Aunt Dot’s website and give a contribution. You can be sure that your money will be used directly to benefit the hungry in Essex. One man bought ten Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger boxes and brought them to Aunt Dot’s. Or, when you are food shopping at Price Chopper, buy something for the hungry and drop it off in their box for Aunt Dot’s Place.
If you have the time, there are lots of ways to get involved. It takes many hands to make a food shelf run, from fundraising to picking up food or stocking shelves. Find a way to give that works for you and your family during this busy season.
