March 2026 Letter to Volunteers

Dear Wonderful Volunteers,

In this constantly changing world, one thing I can count on is our volunteers. Some of you are just starting and some have been volunteering for years. You are seen and appreciated, and you do essential work. Because of you, families are fed and individuals are supported, in the crucial need of adequate nutrition.

I’m excited to announce that Andrea Francalangia has just been voted on the board. Andrea is a teacher, a shift leader, and was Aunt Dot’s Places Board President when we first started. We are very excited to have her back on the board. She brings a wealth of knowledge and a heart for our mission.

Our Executive Director, Kaki McGeary, has been working hard training new volunteers and streamlining our operations. She has updated our volunteer guide for Saturday pick-ups.

Our committee structure is set, with clear expectations listed. Right now, we have openings for volunteers on the Outreach Committee and the Development and Marketing Committee. The Outreach Committee participates in community events such as National Night Out and Big Beautiful Life and coordinates large food drives such as the Memorial Day Parade and Post Office food drive. The Development and Marketing Committee coordinates fundraising including our Annual Appeal, donor relations, and plans our annual Community Appreciation Event (for volunteers and donors). At our last event, donors really enjoyed touring our facility, getting to see what their donations are supporting.

Special thanks to Mason Bauer, who is a student who runs his own business. He organized a silent auction and used the proceeds to buy 50 pounds of beef from Lawrence Family Farms, which he donated to Aunt Dot’s Place.  His Dad volunteers at Aunt Dots on shifts and is part of our delivery program!
