April 2025 Letter to Volunteers

Dear Aunt Dot’s Place Volunteers,

Last night at our board meeting, I talked about advocacy which is the act of pleading or arguing in favor of something or someone. As a non-profit organization, we can’t take any part in endorsing a political candidate or get involved in partisan election activities. But there is a lot that we can do.

Our Milk Matters campaign is an example of advocacy. We are asking our community to help the children in the communities we serve have access to milk in their home. We are trying to raise $10,000.00 which is the cost of the milk that we purchase for a year.

I challenged the board last night, and I’m writing to challenge you today, to give to the Milk Matters campaign, and to promote this campaign with your friends and family. If you want to give, go to: https://givebutter.com/Eiu13J. Put your name on your donation. Show your friends that you care and forward our Facebook post to friends and family too. I’m passionate about this. I’m going through my email addresses to see how many people I know that I can ask to help by donating. I’ve been retired for a few years, but I just wrote to a former colleague to give a donation. We can do this!

In other news, we are continuing with the Strategic Planning Process. If you received a survey, it would be very helpful if you respond to it. I’m excited that we will also be surveying clients, which will provide important information to inform the board.  Also, we are looking for people to help at the Because Craft Fair, which is May 3, at the University Mall. We also need people to sign up to bring baked goods.
