Dear Wonderful Volunteers,
One of the things I love about being a volunteer and a Board Member is the opportunity to meet so many caring people. Some people I’ve recently met are the young farmers at The Farm Upstream, in Jericho, who have given us weekly deliveries of food for our clients. I also had the chance to meet two employees of Blogett Ovens who stopped by with 100 pounds of turkeys and over 250 pounds of non-perishable food items. Amazing! Thankfully, we have the freezer that Board Member Richard Hoskings donated, which we use for turkeys.
Sparky’s Bar and Grill of Essex Junction has been a very big supporter of Aunt Dot’s Place and our mission to fight food insecurity, and now they are going to have a food drive in November for us. I’m thankful too for the Town of Essex which collected food for us on Community Day and are now allowing us to have a food drive on Nov. 5th, at Essex Middle School, a town voting location. If you’re talking about politics with your neighbor, mention something that is beyond politics, this opportunity to help our neighbors by bringing non-perishable food when they come to vote.
Have you noticed the bright yellow signs where our clients shop and the reorganized back section? I can reach the cereal now easily. This is all thanks to Kitty Daly who is one of the most organized people I know.
Also, I want to express my appreciation for Kaki McGeary, our new Executive Director. She is working hard on many fronts including work on an Annual Appeal which has been in the works for a while. She’s come in with a fresh perspective and is getting things done.
The last thing I want to mention is that we are looking for new board members. Please let me know by writing to me at sue@auntdotsplace.com if you would like to know more about becoming a board member and what the duties of a board member are. I would love to meet with you for coffee and answer any questions you may have.

I’m thankful for all that we have been able to accomplish to help people with the basic need of having enough food on the table. We are doing important work, and we make a tangible difference in our neighbor’s lives. Thank you so much for all you do, whether you are a greeter, shopper, shift leader, pick up food, label food, pack eggs, buy fresh veggies, or a Board Member. You are each so important, and I’m proud of you.
Sincerely,
Sue Miyamoto
Board President
