February 2022 Update

Just like water and shelter, we need nutritious food to grow and survive. Healthy food provides our minds and body with the nutrients they need to reach their highest potential. When individuals are supported and strengthened by good food, so too, is our community.  I thank you for being an instrumental part of that.

The Aunt Dot’s Board of Directors is continuing to work with Champlain Leadership on a S.W.O.T. (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) Analysis. In the next month or so, we hope to complete the analysis and begin implementing suggestions from the analysis.

Thank you to the following organizations who hosted a food drive or donated meals!

·         Essex Alliance Church: 1003 lbs
·         Essex Free Library: 36 lbs
·         Grace United Methodist Church: 14 lbs
·         Mark B.B.Q.: 150 lbs
·         Nest Bakery: 5 lbs
·         Price Chopper Donation Bin: 370 lbs
·         Unknown/Anonymous Donations: 1297 lbs
o   Donations Total: 2,875 lbs

With generous financial support, we were able to purchase a total of $8252 of food totaling 5,335 pounds.

Additionally, we would like to thank the following local stores for their continued donations: Bimbo Bread, Costco, Hannaford, Pepperidge Farm, Trader Joe’s, and West Meadow Bakery.

Don’t forget on the April SignUp.com form; you will see additional opportunities outside our regular shopping hours. Times will vary throughout the week and support Susan’s Place packing, Essex Alliance Church M25 sorting, and Senior Shop Day packing.

We ask that all volunteers wear their masks while at Aunt Dot’s Place. We will let you know if any changes are made to the current masking requirement.

If you or your place of work would like to host a food drive, please email us at AuntDotsPlace@gmail.com

Thank you for supporting your community members in need. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions; we sincerely appreciate you!

With Gratitude,

Carissa A. Gump, OLY, MPA
Aunt Dot’s Place, Board President
