For the Children

April 15, 2019 | by Sue Miyamoto

On Thursday, April 11, volunteers put together 35 vacation bags, totaling over 652 pounds of food for the children of our community.

Food insecure kids count on their free or reduced breakfast and lunch that they get at school. To meet the need for our communities’ children, Aunt Dot’s Place volunteers pack vacation bags with items for breakfast and lunch, so the kids won’t miss out on nutritious food during school vacation.

When the families come to pick up their bag, volunteers will add other items such as eggs and bread, and thankfully now, each bag has a voucher for milk.

Aunt Dot’s Place is able to create these bags due to the support of Pomerleau Real Estate, Bimbo Bakeries USA, McKenzie Country Classics, Cabot Cheese & Gina as well as members of the community who support Aunt Dot’s place with donations and hands on help.
