According to A. A. Gill “Breakfast is everything, the beginning, the first thing. It is the mouthful that is the commitment to a new day, a continuing life.”
Yet today, at Aunt Dot’s Place, I noticed that we only have Shredded Wheat and Wheat Flakes cereals. Don’t get me wrong – I love Shredded Wheat and eat it frequently for breakfast.
But I don’t know too many two year to eight year old kids that are passionate about Shredded Wheat. In fact, I don’t know any.
So I was wondering if anyone would like to donate some more kid friendly cereal. I am not suggesting a truck load of highly sweetened cereal. According to Fran Lebowitz “Breakfast cereals that come in the same colors as polyester leisure suits make over sleeping a virtue.”
Some healthy cereals with kid-appeal are Cheerios, Kix, and Rice Krispies. I still remember listening for the “snap, crackle and pop” of Rice Krispies as a child. Let’s work together to create healthy breakfast memories for our community’s kids.
