September 2025 Letter to Volunteers

Dear Aunt Dot’s Place Volunteers,

I appreciate all your hard work. Please save the date for our Donor/Volunteer Appreciation event, scheduled for November 6th. More details will be coming soon. I’m also thankful for two checks we recently received, one for $10,000 and one for $5,000. Both our volunteers and our donors help us continue to move forward in our mission to support our neighbors facing food insecurity by providing nourishing food, essential personal care items, and community connection.

We are signing a new contract with the Vermont Foodbank, which requires changes in how we transport food and how and when we take temperatures. New equipment has arrived, enabling us to implement these changes. If you have any questions, please direct them to Kaki.

Special thanks to Kaki McGeary, Amy Bourdeau, Steve Miyamoto, Carol Poole, and Frank White for their continued work on Pantry Software. I also want to thank Gina Barett, a shift leader at Aunt Dot’s Place, who is helping to lead work in educating our community about the dangers of opioids and the resources available for people who need help. This is a wonderful way to support our neighbors and our community.

In other news, Jon Ophardt is our new Board Vice President. Thank you, Jon, for your commitment to Aunt Dot’s Place. Your legal background and breadth of experience is very helpful to the board.
