The Problem with March

March 8, 2019 | by Sue Miyamoto

Author Philip Gulley, writing about the month of March said “Not much good can be said about a month that is cold and gloomy with mud, gray skies, rain down the neck, slush over the tops of shoes”.  It is a time of almost – when winter is almost over, but it’s not yet spring, and you can’t hurry it up, no matter how much you wish you could.

Do you want to cheer yourself up? Then do something for others. According to many studies giving to others financially and or volunteering can improve your health and happiness. Jorge Moll of the National Institute of Health said that when people give “it activates regions of the brain associated with pleasure, social connection and trust”.

So make yourself happy and give to Aunt Dot’s Place, our local food shelf. It will help others and help you get through March too! Give a food donation or a monetary donation. Do you want to multiply your joy and impact? Inspire a group of friends or collegues to join you in giving. That’s when your happiness will soar.
